We had such a great time the last couple years that we're going back again this year. Granite Peak (formerly Rib Mountain) lies in the center of the state in Wausau, and is the highest ski-able mountain in state. It also boasts the 2nd highest vertical in the whole Midwest at 700 feet. The area has made significant improvements in the past few years including: a High-Speed six person chair, new trails, a new base lodge with a ski shop, demo shop and cafe. The area has 100 percent snowmaking and grooming, and offers skiers and snowboarders a spectacular view of the city lights while night skiing. Our lodging will be at the Best Western in Wausau, in view of the Granite Peak ski area. This trip leaves Friday evening from Downers Grove Municipal parking lot and returns Sunday evening.
