Sky High Camping & Canoeing
Itinerary
Friday - check-in any time after 12 noon - Sky
High will have a list of our names.
Select a camp site, on a first come, first served basis (20 sites:
1-13, 27-30 & 43-45). We will be having a group camp fire Saturday
night on site 10 across from the out-house wash rooms (where the
screen doors slam all night) - So, drop off your donated firewood
in this area (thank you!).
If you enjoy a Friday night Wisconsin style fish-fry (an all-you-can-eat
fish dinner) plan on stopping by the "Hitching Post Saloon & Eatery"
located in Portage at 2503 W. Wisconsin St, 608-742-8208 (they also
serve: steaks, prime rib, BBQ ribs, and Mexican food). A group of
us will usually be there around 7-ish. -- Directions: Turn RIGHT
onto Hwy WI-33 towards PORTAGE for 2.5 miles, Merge onto I-39 N
towards US-51 / STEVENS POINT for 2.5 miles, EXIT at 89A towards
PORTAGE onto W. WISCONSIN ST / WI-16 E about a quarter of a mile
and you'll see the "Hitching Post Saloon" on your left on a frontage
road.
Friday night entertainment will be socializing
and watching the late arrivals setup in the dark.
Saturday morning bright and early: eat breakfast,
pack your lunch, cooler and supplies for canoeing - you must leave
the camp grounds by 9:30 (yes, A.M. - take aspirin for a hang-over).
We will need to car pool, drivers click
here to get maps and directions to drop off your passengers
& supplies at our canoe departure place "Sunset Park" in Portage
at 10:00 and then proceed to the "Bears Hideaway Bar" near Hooker's
Resort (and Judd's Marina) to park their vehicles. "T&G's Canoeing
Adventures" our outfitter and the owners of the "Bears Hideaway"
will take the drivers and canoes to our departure place at 10:30.
We will be canoeing, floating and swimming down the Wisconsin River
back to where our vehicles are parked.
Saturday night you are on your own for dinner
- most people will BBQ at their campsite. The group camp fire and
reminiscing about our canoe adventure will start around dusk at
camp site 10 across from the out-house wash rooms (where the screen
doors slam all night).

in the Dells area (Noah's Ark, or Kalahari), bike ride the "400 Trail",
take in a round of golf, visit near-by Ho-Chunk Casino, have brunch at
Perkins in Madison, shop at Farm & Fleet in Janesville, or do whatever
your little heart desires.
